Tyler Summers

Tyler Summers is a recent recipient of the IMEA Outstanding Future Music Educator’s Award, and he’s eager to utilize his passion for education on inspiring the next generation of musicians and music educators. He is busy finishing up his degree in music education at Purdue Fort Wayne, where he plays horn for the PFW Wind Ensemble. His eclectic musical tastes range from Romantic-era composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky to the psychedelic sounds of George Harrison and the hip-hop beats of Kendrick Lamar. Tyler believes music has the power to help us understand our complex emotions in a unique way. He comes from a musical family, with both his mom and brother playing the clarinet, and his sister having played the baritone. When not performing or teaching, Tyler might be found in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal.
