Ethan Wood
Ethan Wood made several life-changing cross-country moves growing up, hopping from opposite corners of Texas to South Carolina to small-town Indiana. But the one constant between each home? They were each filled with music! His older brother is now a band director, his sister plays music in college, and his youngest sister just picked up Ethan’s instrument of choice, the trumpet. Ethan studied Trumpet Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he became principal trumpet in the school orchestra. Now, in his third year of teaching, Ethan is thrilled to watch young musicians connect with music in the same way he did when he was their age. Some of his favorite artists include trumpet-heavy acts like Mariachi sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, Alison Balsom, Wynton Marsalis, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. He says, as an avid music listener, he views each performance as a glimpse into an artist’s soul and the way they view the world. You can catch Ethan performing as a substitute for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
