Carter Vernon
Carter Vernon originally hails from Toronto, Canada, but he spent his later childhood in the Hoosier State. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music performance from Purdue University – Fort Wayne, later earning a master’s in the same field at Stephen F. Austin State University. It was there in Texas he began teaching more than a decade ago, but he’s since returned to Indiana, where he regularly performs with several PFW ensembles. When not on stage, he also enjoys serenading his pet bird.
Carter loves being able to perform music that reaches people on an emotional level. His personal music tastes vary wildly from classical symphonies to video game soundtracks and from folk music to K-pop. He’s the first in his family to pursue music performance professionally, but not the only family member to build a career around woodwind instruments. His mother works to help manufacture bassoons at Fox Products in South Whitley.
