Sally Hinkle-Teegarden
Playing bassoon is what makes Sally Hinkle-Teegarden want to get up in the morning. She’s felt that way since she was a child, growing up listening to Don Christlieb’s performances in iconic movie scores from Wizard of Oz to Close Encounters of the Third Kind. So in high school, when neither the marching band nor the jazz band could find a place for her instrument of choice, Sally created her own chamber music ensemble. She’s played with the Fort Wayne Area Community Band since 1986, Lima Symphony Orchestra since 1989, and the Jaenicke Consort, Inc. Woodwind Chamber Ensemble since 1991. She also recently joined the Symphony of the Lakes. With so much music in her life, Sally always has an earworm melody playing in her head. She’s eager to share her love of music with the next generation, and in return, she jokingly says her students can teach her how to use her phone.
