Arturo Villarreal
Arturo Villarreal has been playing guitar for more than 45 years and teaching it for more than twenty. A native of Panamá City, Panamá, he grew up listening to his father playing the accordion and organ for church choirs. Arturo moved to New York to earn a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fordham University. He went on to become a certified music therapist through Fundación Danilo Perez, Panamá and earn certification from Berklee School of Music’s online program for jazz improvisation, music technology, and music production. Arturo is a recent transplant to Fort Wayne, joining his wife Tamara, who also happens to love the arts, specifically dance and piano. When he’s not instructing, Arturo loves to perform with local artists in the styles of jazz, soul, Latin, bossa nova, and classic rock. Through his experience in many different cultures and contexts, Arturo knows exactly what it means that “music is the universal language.” He’s currently in the process of writing, collaborating, and recording his own original songs.
