Believe in a Dream Partnership

Our Fort Wayne community is fortunate to have a vibrant music scene. From a world-class Philharmonic orchestra – to the bands who rock out at the Brass Rail – and everyone performing at all our wonderful venues in between. So much so, in fact, that our county’s economic development plans now call for growing our capability as a Top 10 music city.

Yet at the same time, Fort Wayne’s young aspiring professional musicians need to be prepared for the dynamic and ever-changing music industry. Instrumental skills, a passion for the musical arts, and a dream to pursue a career in music simply aren’t enough.

Tunes of Tomorrow is designed to help aspiring young musicians and aspiring young music industry professionals achieve their dreams and learn the intricacies of the music industry. Students will work in teams to brainstorm song ideas and create an original composition. They will rehearse and record the songs, including mixing and mastering to make them sound great. They will promote the songs by designing a logo, learning about copyright, and creating merchandise. There will be a final student-led showcase of their work.

This program is a collaboration between Believe In A Dream, Inc and the Music Academy at Pearl Arts. As servants of community youth, Believe In A Dream works to create immersive experiences for all the community’s youth that reflect today’s (and tomorrow’s) musical environment. Since 2010, Believe In A Dream has created over 3,000 free, immersive experiences for young musicians in our community through their string-focused Performing Arts programs. They have not yet, however, offered any Recording Arts programs. The Music Academy at Pearl Arts has an amazing facility and staff with the equipment and expertise to bring this program to life.

Students will meet weekly during the fall semester at the Pearl Arts Innovation Institute. This program is open to all students aged 13-18, irrespective of school district. The program cost is $250; however, scholarships are available through Believe In A Dream.
