Gilmar Cavalcante
Gilmar Cavalcante is a dedicated trumpet performer and educator originally from Brazil. He began playing trumpet in 1997, and what started as a childhood interest quickly evolved into a lifelong passion and profession.
Gilmar holds a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet from Universidade Federal da Paraíba, a Certificate of Specialist in Music Education from Universidade Cândido Mendes, a Master of Music Performance in Trumpet from Valdosta State University, and a Doctor of Arts in Music from Ball State University, where he focused on Trumpet Performance and Entrepreneurial Music.
Gilmar currently serves as principal trumpet for the Manchester Symphony Orchestra and performs as third/utility trumpet for the Anderson Symphony Orchestra and Muncie Civic Theater. He also regularly appears with the Kokomo Symphony and Orchestra Indiana. As a soloist, he has performed in both Brazil and the United States and has shared the stage with renowned artists including Wynton Marsalis, Canadian Brass, Sandi Patty, and Sutton Foster featured on her album Take Me to the World.
